SUMMARY:Call for Papers for a Special Issue on Behavioural Issues in Multicriteria Decision Aiding
DESCRIPTION:Complex decisions involving consideration of a plurality of points of view\, technically called criteria\, need to be supported by articulated procedures permitting the Decision Maker (DM) to form their preferences and convictions with a systematic interaction with experts and decision analyst. To ensure the effectiveness and the fairness of the decision support\, behavioural aspects of the interaction between DMs\, experts and decision analysts\, as well as between all the actors involved in the multicriteria decision-aiding process\, have to be taken into consideration… \nThis special issue solicits a systematic discussion on this aspect of decision-aiding procedures\, encouraging contributions related to the behavioural issues of multicriteria decision support and their consideration in multicriteria decision-aiding methods (find details here). \nImportant dates \n\nSubmission deadline: 28 February 2025\nNotification of first round of review results: 31 May 2025\nSubmission of revised papers: 31 August 2025\nNotification of second round of review results: 31 October 2025\nFinal decision notifications: 31 December 2025\n\n  \nGuest editors \nSalvatore Corrente\, University of Catania\, Italy salvatore.corrente@unict.it \nAlberto Franco\, University of Bristol\, UK alberto.franco@bristol.ac.uk \nSalvatore Greco\, University of Catania\, Italy salgreco@unict.it \nRaimo Hämäläinen\, Aalto University\, Finland raimo.hamalainen@aalto.fi

SUMMARY:GDN Conference -- Katowice
DESCRIPTION:GDN Conference\, Katowice\, June 28th – July 1st\, 2026 \nThe link is: https://gdnconference.org/gdn2026/ \nBehavioural Issues in Model-driven Group Decision Support \nStream Organiser: L. Alberto Franco \n  \nModel-driven group decision support (GDS) is an approach to facilitating group decision making in which a formal\, transparent model serves as the central mechanism for structuring discussion\, enabling negotiation\, and supporting analysis. In this approach\, the model—rather than technology or social process alone—is the primary vehicle through which participants collectively explore\, understand\, and reach agreement about a problem situation. \n  \nThis stream invites contributions that examine behavioural issues related to the design\, use\, and evaluation of model-driven GDS in both laboratory and field settings. Central to the stream is a focus on understanding what people actually do when they engage with model-drive GDS methods\, procedures\, and tools\, and how their behaviours\, cognitions\, and emotions shape—and are shaped by—the use of such approaches. \n  \nWe particularly welcome empirical studies that report on the application of model-driven GDS with face-to-face or virtual teams working on: \n\nCross-functional and interdisciplinary decision making\nStrategy and policy analysis and evaluation\nInter-organisational collaboration and partnership working\n\n  \nThe stream also seeks contributions that advance theoretical and practical understanding of model-driven GDS approaches. Topics of interest include\, but are not limited to: \n\nProblem structuring methods (e.g. SODA\, SSM\, Strategic Choice)\nFacilitated modelling approaches (e.g. Group Model Building\, Decision Conferencing)\nGames and simulation-gaming approaches for group decision support\nThe role of technology in supporting model-driven GDS\n\n  \nFinally\, we welcome research that examines the development of competences and skills required for effective model-driven GDS\, including facilitation\, modelling and the management of group dynamics. \n  \nAlberto Franco \nalberto.franco@bristol.ac.uk
